Do you design your UI inside Unity? (Or any other game engine, really)
In the German media design training and at universities, we learn how to start with a quick draft, get reference material and incorporate the things we learn from them in our own designs. I'll show you a quick walkthrough you can try on your next UI design! And don't worry, quick drafts do not need to look pretty, they are just meant to structure hazy ideas on paper. It will take some practice, so don't be disheartened if your first drafts don't work out. Have fun ?!

The Game UI Database is a huge collection of screenshots from hundrets of games and it will help you get new ideas on how to design a better UI for your own games. It is an amazing free resource and I believe you would do yourself a big favour if you go check it out: https://www.gameuidatabase.com/
